Emily: Thanks for the plug for my book, however it is out of print and will likely not be reprinted. You pronounced Vogt right.I have read most of the books you mentioned; one of my favorites not mentioned is Riding Rockets by Mike Mullane. You did an excellent job of reviewing. Charles Bourland
Some of my favorites that you didn't mention. Again, if you are a space buff, you have already read Andrew Chaikin's Man on the Moon, but if you haven't, you should. It was the inspiration for the mini-series "From the Earth to the Moon." The MiniSeries in DVD is a good gift, particularly for young people interested in space. So is the DVD of "The Wonder of it All" or "In the Shadow of the Moon." But if you are a space buff, you have already seen these...anyway, Chaikin also has a lovely "coffee-table glossy" type book called "Voices from the Moon" which is just gorgeous photos and verbatim quotations from Astronauts and Mission Controllers involved in the moon voyages. You persuaded me to put "Homesteading Space" on my Amazon wish list.
Homesteading Space is adorable! It's a must-read. Also, I forgot this, but ASF has autographs for those who are into autographs...www.astronautscholarship.org I think is the link. Another book I forgot about: if you like coffeetable books, Moonfire was reissued by Taschen a few years back. It has wonderful photos.
